Canada’s 156th Birthday - It’s Your Festival celebrates 54 years

SONGS FROM THE GARDEN WITH CHARLIE KERT
Skeeter and Empathina are lost in a forest with a drought. Together with the plants, animals, and all the children, they sing, dance, drum, and learn to speak the language of nature. All of this activity invites the rain, ends the drought, and brings the garden back to life.
Little Fingers Music had a touring live show as well as sing / dance / drum group classes and group keyboard classes. Charlie also wrote and interactive Rock Operetta for children called ROCKgarden Party!

Traditional creation story of the Haudenosaunee
The Six Nations Smoke Dancers are from the Six Nations of the Grand River located in Southern Ontario Bear Brantford, Ontario.
They share the unique culture and traditions of the Haudenosaunee (Hud-deno-show-knee) they will be showcasing a variety of traditional social songs and dances.

Erin will have everyone up on their feet dancing, singing and playing along to the music in an Interactive Musical workshop experience. Music Together is a non performance based program where families get together and play with music, create lasting memories and build neural pathways that last a lifetime!
Erin is an Early Childhood Music Educator and certified Music Together Teacher with 15 years experience. She will have everyone up on their feet dancing, singing and playing along to the music in an interactive musical workshop experience. Music Together is a non performance based program where families get together and play with music, create lasting memories and build musical neural pathways that last a lifetime!
Music Together is a research based, internationally renowned music program for children ages newborn through 8 and the grown ups who love them. A community of families sharing songs, instrument play, rhythm chants, and movement activities in a relaxed, playful, non performance oriented setting.

My Cat Flash with Andy G and Friends
Andy G and Friends bring to stage a whole bunch of fun, sing along, danceable, toe-tapping tunes in their interactive family show. A great mix of new original songs penned by Andy G, as well as some fun classic kids standards. For children ages 1 to 8 years old and the “older kids” too!
Canadian folk rock & roots singer/songwriter Andy Griffiths wants to tell you about a cat named Flash.
“Flash was a wonderful cat with a loving personality and a lot of character,” says Andy. “When we brought Flash home as a kitten, he would always run around the house at top speed and often got into trouble…here and there!”
So it goes for the meowable muse behind Andy’s first children’s album, ‘OUR CAT FLASH’ and the picture book to accompany it, illustrated by multiple award-winning artist Helen Griffiths.
Andy G and Friends bring to stage a whole bunch of fun, sing along, danceable, toe-tapping tunes in their interactive children’s / family show. A great mix of new original songs penned by Andy G, as well as some fun classic kids standards. For children ages 1 to 8yrs old and the “older kids” too!
With a fun and energetic stage presence, hand puppets, tuba, slide whistle, shakers, froggy guiros, guitars and voices, these big kids always put smiles on the faces of their audiences!

My Friend Christopher
My Friend Christopher explores the joys and challenges of family life through original songs with piano, acoustic guitar rags, and early jazz horns. In 2022, MFC performed Ontario festival stages, street festivals, schools and markets in Hamilton and had his FACTOR-funded second album Tuba Blues nominated for a CFMA for Best Children’s Album.

Miss Tania Lou and the Ring Ding Kids
An interactive and delightful performance of Jamaican culture through song, dance, poems, riddles, stories and games.
Tania Hernandez, known as Miss Tania Lou, is a Jamaican-Canadian and proud Hamiltonian, who struts her stuff on local and international stages, promoting and preserving the rich, vibrant culture of her birth country, Jamaica. Miss Tania Lou was a Top 7 finalist in the 2022 Jamaica International Independence Foreign Song Competition, in Atlanta, Georgia, and is currently in the Top 11 semi-finals. Her vibrant personality and exuberance capture the audience as she performs folk songs, poetry, dance, stories and riddles, always interacting with her audience to create a nice,” irie” vibe. Miss Tania Lou, as she is lovingly called by her avid fans, is a jack of all trades and a master of many – a teacher, philanthropist, Jamaican/ Caribbean folklorist, poet, social commentator, author, music and performing recording artist, mentor and sponsor at City Kidz in Hamilton, Ontario. Tania is an edutainer par excellence, which has gained her the designation as Goodwill Ambassador by the Jamaica Foundation of Hamilton in October 2022. In the same year, she was honoured by a Jamaican/International organisation, the XLCR 76ers, for her humanitarian service and keeping the cultural legacy of her birth country, alive. Her contributions to her community and elsewhere have won her a nomination at the 6th annual Women Who Rock Awards 2021 for her outstanding achievements. Tania has been performing at It’s Your Festival for many years, including 2021, where she was invited to sing Canada’s national anthem and showcase her talents. She looks forward to hitting the stage again during Canada Day celebrations to add to the multicultural flavour of the “the true North strong and free!”
